Robert Herman Kelm

Robert (Bob) Kelm died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, September 21, 2019 in his residence in Kingsford, MI after a long illness. He was born June 26, 1928 to Herman and Lena Kelm in Terre Haute, IN and lived in Terre Haute for most of his life. Bob attended the former Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from the former Gerstmeyer Technical High School in Terre Haute and served in the United States Air Force prior to and during the Korean Conflict. He served as president of the Garfield High School Men’s Club and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Parent’s Association and was a life-long member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served in a number of positions including chairman. Prior to his illness, he enjoyed golf and wood working in his retirement. Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Ruth Joan (Windley) Kelm, and is survived by sons Gary Robert (Peggy) of Cincinnati, and John Wayne (Kathy) of Florence, WI, five grandchildren and spouses, and twelve great-grandchildren. A funeral ceremony with military honors will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 27 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home with Rev. Jacob Sutton officiating. Visitation will be held a half hour prior to services. Robert will be laid to rest next to his wife in Roselawn Memorial Park.
