Thomas Ramsey

Thomas Hugh Ramsey, 72, of Terre Haute, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Union Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on April 26, 1941, in Palestine, IL, to James and Helen (Leach) Ramsey. He married Linda Bennett in 1960, and they celebrated 40 years of marriage before her passing in 2001. He married Lois (Brooks) Scheid in December 2003.

Tom worked for almost 25 years at Pillsbury. He later went to work at Ivy Hill, from where he retired. In his spare time, Tom enjoyed golfing and fishing. In his younger years, he participated in competition archery. Tom attended 8th Avenue Baptist Church.

Tom is survived by his wife of ten years, Lois Ramsey of Terre Haute; children, Cyndi Corey (Tony) of Terre Haute, Scott Ramsey (Carmen) of Terre Haute, and Candy Cantrell (Jeffrey) of Goodlettsville, TN; grandchildren, Chelsea Linder of Terre Haute, Aaron Linder of Tampa, FL, Michael Ramsey, Elias Ramsey, Sebastian Newton, all of Terre Haute, Lexi Newton of Bloomington, Natasha Edmonson of Terre Haute, Corey Cantrell and Kyle Cantrell, both of Goodlettsville, TN; great-grandchildren, Mekhi, Brock, and Kylee Higgins all of Terre Haute; step-children, Steve Scheid (Candy) of Terre Haute and James Scheid (June) of Miamisburg, OH; step-grandchildren, Leslie Scheid of Hermosa Beach, CA, Carly Scheid of Terre Haute; Jackie Scheid, Billy Scheid, and Hannah Lingvai, all of Miamisburg, OH; brothers, Jim Ramsey (Inez) and Mickey Ramsey, both of Palestine, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Linda.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., at Eighth Avenue Baptist Church, 2128 8th Ave. in Terre Haute, with Pastor Dick Smith officiating. A memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Eighth Avenue Baptist Church.
