

Virginia Rose Tryon Kennedy , 89, of Terre Haute, passed away early Saturday morning, January 10,2015, at Meadows Manor North Nursing Home where she had resided since the death of her husband of 44 years, William Frederick "Bill" Kennedy on December 25, 2011.
She was born April 23, 1925, in Terre Haute to Raymond and Edna Tryon. She was a former member of the Auxiliaries of organizations her husband was a member of , such as American Legion Post 104, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 9, etc. She and Bill were very active in the Hilltoppers Club of Zorah
Shrine and spent many summers in a recreational vehicle on Shrine Hill at the Zorah Shrine Country Club where they enjoyed the fellowship of other Hilltoppers.
For many years, Virginia worked as a genealogist in and around the Terre Haute area. Besides the requests for family history that came to her personally, she was entrusted with the requests for family history information that came to the Vigo County Courthouse, researched them and sent the information to hundreds of interested parties. She worked in cooperation with the Terre Haute Genealogical Society and had quite a large home library of genealogical books and records. She was well known and well respected for her work in genealogy.
She is survived by one daughter, Helen (Jim) Berg of Rehoboth Beach, DE, three grandchildren, Fred Berg of Plano, TX, Christopher Berg, Cecilton, MD, Tracey Berg of Dallas, TX, one half-sister, Marjorie Shirely of Marshall, IL, sister-in-law and co-guardian, Juanita Tryon of Crown Point, IN, one nephew, Michael (Cathy) Tryon, co-guardian of Crystal Lake, IL, nieces, Janice (James) Kosiba, co-guardian of Crown Point, , Susan McMurray of Dallas, TX, Kimbra (Jeff) Solomon of Johnston City, IL, Lora (Mike) Pringle of Dennison, IL, sister-in-law, Phyllis (John) Mason, brother-in-law, Daniel (Betty) Kennedy, nieces and nephews, Danny Kennedy, Lisa Kennedy, Lee Kennedy, Janet Mason, David Mason, Brian Mason and Barb Anderson, all of Terre Haute, Mark Porter, Anderson, IN, Randy Kennedy of Bradenton, FL, Jayne Wolfe, Colfax, IN and Ed Fenton of Zionsville, IN, cousins, Bob Tryon Jr and Shirley Thornton both of Terre Haute, and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Charles and Edna Goss, father and step-mother, Raymond and Mary Tryon, a brother, Floyd Tryon and aunts and uncles.
Funeral services are scheduled for noon, Friday, January 16, 2015, at Roselawn Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Pringle officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Friday until the service begins at noon. Entombment will take place in Roselawn Memorial Park’s Chapel of Memories.
