

William F. “Bill” Cain, 93, of West Terre Haute, passed away at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014, in Union Hospital. He was born March 24, 1921, in Terre Haute, to Lemuel “LR” Cain and Gladys Murry Cain. He was the co-owner of Cain Brothers Trucking and later worked as an insurance salesman.
Survivors include his wife, Waunita Fields Cain; two daughters, Patricia LeConte and husband Jeff of Terre Haute, and Jane Cain of Memphis, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Nancy Augustus and husband Paul and one stepson, Jack Fields and wife Lynette, both of West Terre Haute; two granddaughters, Shelby Tate and Caitlin Tate, both of Memphis; and several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Fernrose Morgan Cain; a son, Steven Cain; and two brothers, Joe Cain and Richard Cain.
He was enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in London during World War II. He was a member and very devoted to the First Baptist Church of West Terre Haute, a member of The Gideons International, and enjoyed traveling and talking to people, and very interested in the Civil War.
Funeral services for William “Bill” will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014, at First Baptist Church of West Terre Haute, 205 S. 5th St., in West Terre Haute, with the Rev. Jeff Augustus officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park with military graveside rites. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
