

Zelma L. Akers Drake, 99, of Farmersburg, Indiana, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 26, 2013, in her home surrounded by family. Zelma was born on December 2, 1913, to William & Myrtle Akers in Farmersburg, Indiana.
She is survived by three sons, Deb Drake & wife Arlene of Sullivan, Jim Drake & wife Sheila of The Villages , Florida, and Harry Drake & wife Becky of Farmersburg, and Brenda Long of Terre Haute, 13 grandchildren, Basil Banko, Tina Callahan, Joe Hewitt, Mike Drake, Stacy Gough, Tammy Hewitt, John Drake, Angie Jones, Michelle Hoaglund, Shawn Drake, Christy Dodge and Lisa Taylor, 29 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her adopted family Rick, Connie, Shelly May, an amazing amount of friends especially Elsie Caton and a lifelong neighbor Mary Lou Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Johnny Drake, daughter Beverly Ann Hewitt, great grandson Casey Drake, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Zelma was a member of Farmersburg United Methodist Church for 84 years. She loved her family friends, baking pies and caring for others.
Services will be Monday Sept. 30th, 2013 at 2:00pm at Farmersburg United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 10:00am until the service time. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Farmersburg. Rev. Don Randsford will be officiating. Mattox-Wood Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Farmersburg United Methodist Church or Heart to Heart Hospice.
