

Anita LaGene Shipley, 74, passed away on May 2, 2016 at her home in Dallas, Texas. She was born on December 23, 1941 to Lavenan Troy (L.T.) Faircloth and Geneva Kindred in Hollywood, California. Several years later when Anita turned 10 her family moved to Tulsa Oklahoma for two years and then moved to San Antonio Texas for two years and then moved to Dallas, Texas where she grew up. She got married to her high school sweetheart Johnny Cogburn and had her daughter Shelley and shortly after got a divorce. Then she met the love of her life, James Carl Shipley and in 1963 they married and James shortly after adopted Shelley and changed her name to Shipley and then had two boys together (James Gregory and Chris). Anita loved to be involved with her children. Growing up she was everything from a soccer coach and softball coach to being the Sunday school and bible study teacher. She was also the Jr. Bowling coach. She enjoyed bowling and listening to music and reading. Her favorite artists included Michael Bublé, Frank Sinatra, Barry Manilow, and her absolute favorite, Elvis Presley. Anita worked for Braniff Airlines for a while, from there she went on to work at Red Colemans and AT&T. When Anita wasn’t working she was traveling the world with her family and friends. Her favorite places she went to were China, Japan, and Greece. Anita was a proud member of the Easten Star and the Divine Peace Lutheran Church in Garland, Texas. She loved her family, her church family and co-workers and everyone loved her. She cherished her family. Those who preceded her in death are, her parents and her husband. Those left to remember her are her daughter, Shelley Royman of Wills Point, her two sons, James Gregory and wife Amy of Plano and Chris Shipley and girlfriend Deneace Johnson of Heath. Her grandkids, Britney and husband, Kyle, Stephanie, Jared and wife Morgan, Hayle, Miranda, Tyler and Jeremy. Step grandchildren, Jacob, Johnathan, Jordan, and Josh her great grandchildren, Caleb, Brendan, Benjamen, and Avery. She also leaves a sister, Sandra Parish and her husband Leon and a nephew, Troy And Neice Keri in Solana Beach, California. A funeral service will be held at the Divine Peace Lutheran Church in Garland, Texas on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. A burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Forney, Texas.
