Rose Marie Smith Ketcham, of Quinlan, Texas, entered into Heavenly Paradise with her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, July 15, 2014 after a sudden and brief illness. Marie was born November 25, 1938 in Kemp, TX to Will Tom (Honey) and Lillie Pipkin Blackmon, both of whom preceded her in death. Marie married Lamon Delbert Smith who together raised their two children in Terrell until Delbert’s untimely death in a private airplane accident in December of 1973. Marie was a long-time, dedicated employee at Terrell Community Hospital, working in the Radiology department for over 25 years as an x-ray technician. Marie was very well known for her outgoing, fun loving personality which perfectly complimented the sound of her laughter & her bright, warm smile. Marie later met and married Bill Ketcham of Quinlan, TX and they shared many wonderful years together until his passing. She enjoyed spending time working in her yard, flower gardens and with the fruit trees on her property although her first priority was always her family. Preceding her in death was her husband Delbert; as well as her granddaughter, Rachel Lynn Smith; her sweet little sister, Sherry Pirtle; her dear niece, Heather Myers, and brother, Kenneth “Son” Blackmon & Bill Ketcham. Marie’s legacy will live on through those who loved her so deeply. She is survived by her devoted and caring daughter, Cindy Daniel of Quinlan; her lovingly protective son, Dan Smith of Terrell and her daughter-in-law, Lynn Chadick Smith; grandson Dustin Daniel and wife, Rebecca; grandson, Will Smith; grandson, Lane Smith and great granddaughter, Audrey Daniel. Also left to cherish her memory is her sister, Neva Keck of Houston; brother, Charles “Buddy” Blackmon of Kaufman; several very close nieces & nephews whom Marie cared for as her own & many other extended family members who were able to remain closely connected to each other through the frequent family gatherings Marie held at her home, celebrating holidays, birthdays, graduations, new babies, new storm shelters or anything else they could use as an excuse for another get-together and share good times full of laughter, food, hugs, kisses and even some occasional dancing, with a family that truly enjoys being together. And although retired from the hospital, Marie made sure to keep up with many of the special friends she had worked with or known through the years. Marie’s earthly body will be laid to rest beside her husband, Delbert Smith, at their family plot in a private family ceremony at Weaver Cemetery on Sunday, July 20, 2014, officiated by Rev. Keith Clayton of First Baptist Church, Terrell. A family visitation will Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 5-7 PM at the Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home located in Terrell, TX.
