Betty was born August 3, 1932 in Genoa, AR. She was a teacher and a member of First United Methodist Church, Arkansas.
She was a life long educator and a active member of the New Covenant Sunday School Class, Steven's Ministry, Braden Terry Circle, United Methodist Women, A.D.K., Arkansas Retired Teachers Association, and was involved in the Holly Springs Cemetery Association.
She was a woman who led by example.
A special thank you to her caregivers who provided her with love and care, Deborah Steward, Jennifer Colbert, Kay Matthews, Kia Black and Yolanda Lowe.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William D. Shipp, Jr. and son, David Shipp.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Shannon Johnston of Genoa, AR; brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Linda Langdon of Genoa, AR, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and relatives.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2020 at First United Methodist Church, Arkansas with Rev. Jamie Alexander officiating. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday at the church prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Holly Springs Cemetery under the direction of East Funeral Home-Downtown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Arkansas or Holly Springs Cemetery Association.
