He was the son of Thomas Treavor Mead and Virginia S. Coose Mead of Palmyra, AR. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Ann Scott Mead. They have two children, Susan Ann Mead Henson (Dean) and Allan Scott Mead (Tanya). Four Grandchildren, Christine Adda Snow, Elizabeth Ann Mead, Bryon Scott Mead and Thomas Albert Henson. Also, three great grandchildren, Rylan, Alythia and Taylor. He is survived by one brother, James Mack Mead (Julie), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a 25-year veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in various states and foreign countries including Vietnam, Philippines, South Korea and Canada.
He was a true American Patriot and flew the American flag with pride and honor. He loved his family, friends and Country. He loved to garden and was an avid fisherman (Fly Fishing was his passion). He tied his own flies and was a member of the Texarkana Area Fly Fisherman’s club. He enjoyed helping with their annual Fishing Derby at Spring Lake Park for physically and mentally challenged youngsters. Likewise, he volunteered at the Veterans Administration and drove the golf cart for Wadley Hospital for several years.
Later in life his hobbies turned to Birds. “His Birds” as he called them. Believe me they never went hungry.
