Dwight, my loving husband, my partner in crime, and my soul mate, was born December 28, 1949, in Hollister, California. He spent most of his youth in Gilroy then bounced around the San Francisco area (he was a true hippie of the 60’s and 70’s) and ended up in northern California. He was a highly skilled contractor. He loved building commercial buildings and took immense pride in his work. Construction finally brought him to Salt Lake City, Utah, and I will be forever grateful for that! Dwight retired as a General Contractor in 2009, obtained his CDL, and drove cross-country, but his passion was always construction. He dearly loved the mountains, particularly California’s Redwood Forest and Salt Lake City’s beautiful canyons, as well as the breathtaking red cliffs and bluffs of Southern Utah. He also loved the ocean. He spent several months in the Caribbean on a construction job and always wanted to go back some day. Although Dwight was raised Catholic, he never truly believed in organized religion. Still, he maintained a very close relationship with God, “The Big Guy” he always said.
Dwight was preceded in death by his father Dwight Munroe Owens, mother Eleanor (Honey) Pauline Ruth Owens, brother William (Billy) L. Owens, and stepson Zachary (Zach) Reichert Hall.
Survivors include me, his wife, Jennifer Reichert of Murray, Utah, daughters Veronica Elizabeth Owens (Riccy Lopez), Jennifer Loraine Pierson (Charlie), and Eleanor Pauline Owens (Dennis Lazkowski, deceased), sister Donna Owens, brother Patrick Lonnie Owens (Denise), cousin Henry Alvin Lucido (Beverly Ulmer) who was more like a brother, best friend Jim Ide (Suzy), and his fur babies Vinny and Lexi.
Dwight also leaves to cherish his memory 6 grandchildren; Kayla, April, Dennis Jr., Josh, Adrianna, and Rose along with 3 great grandchildren (and one on the way!).
Dwight, you were my strong, handsome, very tall, and loving teddy bear who gave me the kind of love one only dreams about. You are my forever love.
Memorial services will not be held per Dwight’s request; however, a ‘Celebration of Life’ will take place in the mountains outside of Salt Lake City,
