Janice is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gerald E. Thomas; two children: daughter Angela Gae Campbell and her husband Matthew Campbell, and son Jason Nichols Thomas and his wife Michelle Vukasin Thomas; five grandchildren: Sarah Kate DeLee and her husband Caleb DeLee, John Thomas Campbell and his wife Megan Campbell, Pryor Nichols Thomas, Clayton Reed Thomas and Charlotte Lillian Thomas; and two great grandchildren: Lilah Wren DeLee and Vivian Kate Campbell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Roy and Willa Mae Nichols.
Janice was born in DeQueen, Arkansas. She graduated from DeQueen High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas. Janice and Gerald owned successful cattle and fertilize businesses in Sulphur Springs Texas. Janice later followed her interest in studies and textiles and design, and opened a design studio called Interior Resources. They moved the design business to Texarkana in 1984.
Janice loved to cook for her family and friends, and shared this gift as much as possible. Janice and Gerald are Methodists, and Janice was involved in church activities in her younger years.
No memorial service is planned. The family asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Texarkana/Hospice of Hope, or UT Southwestern Medical Center.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Robert Leach of Texarkana and Dr. Henry Quinones of UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, for their expert medical care which allowed us to spend several more years with Janice.
Arrangements are under the direction of East Funeral Home.com.
