Lawrence Sonny Grant Jr.

Lawrence "Sonny" Grant, Jr., 67, of Texarkana, AR passed away April 15, 2010 at her home. Mr. Grant was born March 24, 1943 in Texarkana, AR. He was a U. S. Marine veteran, serving a tour of duty in Vietnam and was a one hundred percent disabled veteran. He was a member of DAV; Texarkana Gun Club; and a member of the Honey Hole Hunting Club.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lawrence Grant, Sr. and Nell Grant; and by a daughter, Melissa Grant.

Survivors include his wife, Carrel Grant of Texarkana. AR; sons, Chris Purifoy of Fouke, AR and Michael Purifoy of Texarkana, TX; daughters, Amanda Grant ,Amber Grant and Gracie Grant, all of Texarkana, AR; grandsons, Shawn Purifoy of Texarkana, AR, Nick Purifoy of Fouke, AR, Ben Purifoy of Texarkana, TX and Aidan Purifoy of Fouke, AR; granddaughter, Katherine Bivens of Texarkana, TX; and a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Services will be 2 p.m., Monday, April 19, 2010 at East Memorial Chapel - Downtown with Rev. Malichi Reed officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens under the direction of East Funeral Home - Downtown.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the funeral home.
