Margaret was born Saturday April 17,1948 in Siloam Springs, AR to Royce Wendell Musgrove and Ella Jane Hudson Musgrove. Margaret graduated from Texas High in 1967 and was lifelong resident of Texarkana, TX.
She cherished her time with her father and mother by doing things like camping with the family, was an expert hunter, and loved to fish. Margaret could be seen everywhere Royce went as a little girl. She was known to be a crack shot, as there is an account of her shooting the top off a Coca-Cola bottle.
Margaret found the love of her life in a red-headed fellow who she would affectionately refer to as “Red”. They met in high school and soon it was apparent that they became committed to one another. They were married November 23, 1967. Together, they raised two daughters. Margaret exhibited to her daughters a great example of how to be a woman that thinks independently and objectively and the definition of dedication to family.
Her love for her small, immediate family didn’t stop there because it grew. Margaret had a deep love and affection for her three grandsons, becoming a large part of their lives. She was always present whether it was watching football and baseball games, going to Boy Scout events, and most importantly, spoiling her grandsons with countless trips to Sonic and TaMolly’s.
Margaret’s professional life mirrored her personal life: one of consistency and dedication to a people and a cause. At age 19, Margaret was employed at Red River Army Depot in Hooks, Texas. Over her 30 year career, Margaret’s personal discipline saw her progress through departmental leadership until she became the division leader for DLA, a division of military transport for the Department of the Army. During Operation Desert Storm, Margaret worked countless hours and weekends to ensure that soldiers had what was needed. This was an effort she was proud to accomplish. Her early retirement allowed her to begin her favorite job of all, being Grandma.
Margaret was lovingly cared for as her disease progressed. Her husband cared for her at home until help was needed. That incredible care continued once she became a resident, at the Retreat at Kenwood. Her daughters made daily visits, washed clothes, took her to doctor’s visits and returned the love Margaret showed them throughout their lives.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Royce W. Musgrove and Ella Jane Musgrove, father-in-law Trumon A. Hamill, mother-in-law Alma Christine Haire Hamill.
She is survived by her husband Truman Paul Hamill of Texarkana, TX. Her sister, Cindy Musgrove Allen and her husband Dennis of Texarkana, TX. Her two daughters, April Hamill Windham and her husband Tony of Texarkana, TX. Alicia Hamill McDaniel and her husband Aaron of Texarkana, AR. Her nephew Timothy Allen of Southaven, MS. Her three grandsons and their families: Taylor Windham and his wife Keaton, Davis McDaniel, Landry Windham and his wife Montana all of Texarkana. Margaret had one great-grandson, Hamill Windham and another great-grandson to be born in early August 2026. She leaves behind a large extended family of cousins, each who were special to her.
