Patsy Rankin Sorsby

She was born March 5, 1945, to Clifford and Lavada Rankin and was a lifetime resident of Texarkana. She graduated in the Top 10 at Texas High and Summa Cum Laude from Ouachita Baptist University followed by her Master's Degree from Indiana State University. She enjoyed a long tenure as English/Speech professor at Texarkana College, retiring after 41 years, only when health issues dictated. She was a proud member of "The Goddesses" and looked forward to their monthly lunches.

She was a long-time member of Beech Street Baptist Church where she was a committed Sunday School teacher for many classes over the years. She enjoyed singing in the choir and with the Joy Time Singers. Her strong faith and love for the Lord sustained her through this 14-year journey. When asked how she was doing, she would usually reply, "This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it".

Pat never met a puzzle she couldn't conquer, no matter how large and complicated. Anyone who knew her knew of her love for cats.

Pat and Bob were married September 25, 1971, and enjoyed almost 52 years of marriage. She is survived by Robert (Bob) Sorsby, brother, Don Rankin and wife, Diann, Brother-in-law, Gary Sorsby and wife, Karen, nephews, Chris and Andrew Rankin, Steven Sorsby, niece, Annie Bridges along with many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 10am, Saturday, September 9, 2023 prior to the service.

Services will be at East Memorial Chapel - Moores Lane at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2023 with Rev. Randy Shepard officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens under the direction of East Funeral Home - Moores Lane.
