Lane and I were friends way before we started first grade in 1946, and, though we lost contact for many years, we were brought back by his wonderful wife Anna and their close friend Suzie who stood by to the end.  I've never known anyone who could keep up good spirits as high and as long as he did.  After Anna died, credit has to go to Suzie and to those beautiful birds he loved and gave sanctuary for so many years.

I had not seen Lane for 55 years or more, but I well remember him from 1st Grade on to high school as a great person. Sorry for his passing.
