Dr. Rodney R. Chandler, M.D. 75, of Texarkana, TX graduated this earthly life on August 12, 2022 at his home after a valiant battle with cancer. Dr. Chandler was born May 9, 1947 in Texarkana, TX. He was a graduate of Magnolia High School, Southern State University (SAU), Summa Cum Laude graduate of UAMS, did his residency at Tulane University, and internship at Charity Hospital of Louisiana at New Orleans. Dr. Chandler was an avid climber and successfully climbed the Matterhorn (one of highest summits in the Alps and Europe). Dr. Chandler was an active board member of the Salvation Army, Texarkana. TX; Arkansas Medical Society; American Medical Association; and also an Eagle Scout. He received many awards and recognition for his outstanding service to the Arkansas community. Dr. Chandler was the first physician to read an Electrocardiogram for NASA and was the Space Communicator for Applications Technology Satellite. Dr. Chandler was loved by all of his patients and was known for opening the first urgent care clinic in the Texarkana region. Survivors include his loving wife, Rachel Chandler; son, Brett Chandler; daughter, Cassie M. Chandler, Ph.D, daughter and son-in-law; Elizabeth and Stacy Cunningham, and daughter Abby Glover; grandchildren, Sarah, Simon, Sophia Adams, and Noah Cunningham; brother, David Chandler; best friend, Steve Watters; his fur babies, Sweetheart and Phoebe; and many other friends and relatives that he loved and cherished. Services will be on Monday, August 15th at 5:00 p.m. at East Funeral Home-Downtown located at 602 Olive St. Texarkana, TX with Pastor Mike Ulmer of Church on the Rock officiating and under the direction of East Funeral Home – Downtown. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Monday at East Funeral Home-Downtown. Graveside services will follow at Old Rondo Cemetery in Texarkana, AR. The family would like to say thank you to all who were a part his life and care.
