She was a member of Beech St. Baptist Church; retired from J. C. Penney's; and belonged to the Elks Lodge. Lucille enjoyed playing cards and dominoes and could hold her own in any poker game. She was a very special lady that raised two families, always had a career and was a magnificent cook. She had a passion for shoes and party dresses and was a romantic. She especially loved Danielle Steele novels.
Lucille was always soft spoken, quiet and reserved. She will always be remembered as a loving mom and devoted friend. May she now rest in peace.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Shimpock; stepson, Mike Shimpock ; and sister, Carol Cliburn.
Survivors include her daughter, Zelma Ono; stepdaughters, Marilyn McKenzie and Sandra Akin; stepson, Jerry Shimpock; niece, Twila Reed; grandchildren, Suzanne Gorham, Celeste Santia, Leslie Picon, Rex McKenzie, Jacob Akin, Dustin Akin, Michelle Gregor, Steven Shimpock and David Shimpock; and great grandchildren, Antonio Picon, Trevor Gorham, Sarah Gorham; plus numerous other great grandchildren.
In light of health concerns, burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of East Funeral Home - Downtown.
