Alexis Camille White McClain departed this earth to be with her Lord and Savior May 2. 2025. Alexis was born to Alexander and May White in Carlsbad, New Mexico, on December27, 1945. She was greeted by her sisters Susan and Barbara when she arrived at the family home in Hagerman, New Mexico.
Alexis’s early memories were being by her mother’s side as she artfully created beauty and images with her paintbrushes and canvas. That engendered in Alexis a passion for artful creation. It first blossomed as she sketched women’s clothes and later she was attracted to the beauty profession. She joined a Lubbock salon and soon assumed ownership of that family salon After moving to San Antonio, she established Alexis for Hair, a full-service salon which grew to a premier establishment. Her goal was to provide to the salon’s clients services to elevate their “feeling good” level. Her personal client list grew to more than 500, a testimony to her developing close and meaningful relationships. She was very active in charitable activities in the city. On April 29, 1995, she married Bill McClain and they later moved to The Woodlands, Texas. At the bookstore of The Woodlands Methodist Church she loved serving others and making new friends. She also became a small group leader in Beth Moore Bible Studies, a labor of love as she diligently prepared with a passion. Her seven grandchildren were the loves of her life.
Alexis survived by her husband, Bill McClain (Maj Gen US Army Retired), son Donnie Denton, stepdaughters Michele McClain Rudd (Dr. Robert) and Kathleen McClain; grandchildren Daniel and Connor Denton; Susannah Rudd Leal (First Lt Michael), Sarah Rudd, Meredith Wylie, Madeline Wylie, McClain Wylie.
