Betty Jane (Upchurch) Friedman passed away on August 10, 2023. She was born on July 14, 1948 in Berkeley, CA to Melvin Louis and Alice Jane Upchurch. She married Jerome Friedman on October 7, 1972 in Fullerton, CA. She is survived by Jerry, daughter Susan Friedman, daughter Jennifer Klepacz, son-in-law Richard Klepacz, step-daughter Cari Darr, grandson Caleb Klepacz, grandson Colton Klepacz, granddaughter Addison Watts, and sister Nancy Blackwell.
Betty was a swimmer and a pianist throughout her childhood. She attended the Mozartanium in Saltzburg, Austria. She attended the conservatory of music at the University of Cincinnati for two years. Betty received her Bachelor of Arts in business from Nathaniel Hawthorne College. She continued her business education at the University of California-Irvine.
Betty and Jerry moved to Conroe, TX in 1976. Betty worked her entire career in the oil and gas industry. She loved to play golf and bridge. Betty was a passionate member of multiple choral groups. She was an active member of Shaarey Tzedek Synagogue. Betty served on various boards for many organizations. She loved to travel the world for both work and pleasure.
Betty was the rock for her family and friends and had a larger than life personality. She belonged to many social groups and always made countless friends. She found a reason to gather and laugh with friends and loved ones. Betty enjoyed cooking and eating a good meal with a glass of wine or a margarita.
In lieu of flowers or gifts of any kind, Betty's family has kindly requested donations in her memory be made to their synagogue, Shaarey Tzedek Synagogue.

Her memorial service will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home and Cemetery on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 3pm, 18000 Interstate 45 S. The Woodlands, TX 77384.
