

Charlene was born on February 7, 1934 in Texola, Oklahoma to parents Booker Hayes and Ruth Elizabeth Scharf Willoughby. She graduated from Amarillo High School in Amarillo, Texas and Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas. She met her future husband, George W. Mallett, in the Amarillo High School band. They married November 12, 1955 in Amarillo. They raised their family and were longtime residents of Victoria, Texas before retiring in The Woodlands in 2001. Charlene is a member of The Church at Woodforest in The Woodlands. She has been active in volunteer service at the church and at CHI St. Luke’s Health Hospital in The Woodlands.
Charlene is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 52 years, George. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Mark and Tami Mallett of Houston; Steven and Cheryl Mallett of Bishop, Georgia; and Michael and Vickie Mallett of Los Alamos, New Mexico. She has 8 grandchildren: Matthew and his wife Sarah Mallett; Megan and her husband Chris Roznovsky; Lindsey and her husband Taylor Shaw, Kyle Mallett, Kay and her wife Hannah Mallett; Cameron Mallett, Cade Mallett, and Shayna Mallett and 5 great grandchildren: Audrey and Austin Mallett; Piper and Colby Roznovsky; and Turner Shaw. She also has a sister and brother-in-law Donna Ruth and Garry Foster along with many nieces and their families.
There will be a private family graveside service at a later date.
