

Charles served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific from 1944 to 1945. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama in 1948. In 1952, at the age of 25, he moved to Maracaibo, Venezuela to work for Sears, Roebuck & Co.
In 1956, a wonderful romance blossomed between him and his beloved, Natty Elisa Sturiza, of Buenos Aires, Argentina. They married and had two children, Mary Eleanor and Charles Edward, Jr., both of whom were raised in Caracas, Venezuela.
Mr. Meacham was predeceased by his wife, Natty Elisa, and is survived by his daughter, Mary Eleanor Meacham, and his son, Charles E. Meacham, Jr., both of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by a brother, Albert Meacham, of Mobile, Alabama and two sisters, Eleanor Daily of Garland, Texas and Dot Shackelford of San Diego, California; along with numerous nephews and nieces.
He was a member of the Christ Church United Methodist Church in the Woodlands, Texas, as well as a member of the Under Construction Sunday School Class at Christ Church. An avid volunteer, he worked at the Community Clinic in The Woodlands until 2008. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that contributions be made to The Community Clinic, 101 Pine Manor Dr., Oak Ridge North, Texas 77385.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 3rd, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Christ Church United Methodist Church, 6363 Research Forest Drive, The Woodlands, Texas, 77381. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 7th, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Valley Memorial Garden Cemetery, 3605 North Taylor Road, Mission, Texas, 78572.
