Cheri DeRamus

Cheri loved to study the bible and recently acquired her Credential of Ministry. She was a member of the Northchase Community Church. Cheri also loved to work in her garden, was an avid reader, interior decorator and an expert seamstress. She enjoyed visiting with her children and grandchildren, and spoke with her mother in Alabama every single day; she treasured her family.

Cheri retired as Project Manager for Clear Evaluations in September 2010, after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Since 1997 she held several positions in the video mystery shopping industry. In Cheri’s earlier years she was an instructor and interpreter of Sign Language with East Harris County Co-op for the Deaf, working at San Jacinto College in Northshore, TX and Lee College in Baytown, TX in the late 70’s and early 80’s.

Cheri touched the lives of many people with her love, generosity and trademark sense of humor.

She is survived by her mother Hazel H. Leonard; 4 children: Leslie A. Jeter and husband Wesley, Tony W. DeRamus and wife Patty, Tina I. DeRamus, Stayce D. Avery and husband DeWayne; 6 grandchildren: William Lee Edlund, Jordyn N. Jeter, Donavon D. Avery, Davin D. Avery, Cayden W. DeRamus, Joshua T. DeRamus; and 4 brothers: Randy Leonard and wife Dale, Jim Leonard, Richard Leonard and wife Cindy, Mike Leonard and wife Heather.

Cheri was preceded in death by her father George Leonard and brother Butch Leonard.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, March 25, 2012 in the Chapel of Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home.
