

Clarence Adolph Vaughn, age 77, of The Woodlands,Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior while surrounded by his loved ones on August 29, 2024. He was born on October 4,1946 in West Frankfort, Illinois, to Freda and Clarence Vaughn.
Clarence attended West Frankfort High School where he was active in cross country, basketball and track & field. At the end of his senior year of high school, his coaches named him as the Most Valuable Player in his class. Despite having several college offers, he enlisted in the United States Marines Corps and served his country for three years achieving the following medals: The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, and Pistol Marksman Badge. After leaving the Marines, he was a postal carrier for the United States Post Office for the next 46 years until retirement. He was beloved by everyone on his postal routes because of his exceptional acts of kindness and caring nature while serving them.
Clarence’s 25th Anniversary 1992 Camaro was his pride and joy. He put over 200,000 miles on the car as it was his daily driver. He kept the car in the family by passing it along to his son, Daniel. Clarence was also an avid Houston Texans football fan. He enjoyed watching the NFL games at home with his family as well as supporting Cyndi’s dance teams during half times at high school football games. Clarence also enjoyed keeping up with the current movies at the local theater.
Clarence is survived by his loving wife Jamyee Vaughn, his brother Phillip Vaughn, his sister Kay Beach, the mother of his children, Margaret Vaughn. His children: Charleen Vaughn, Cyndi Vaughn, Daniel Vaughn, step daughter, Tammy Hellberg and spouse Tom Hellberg. Grandchildren: Andy Sumrall, Tori and Justin Love, Luke Ward, Lei-Leen Ward, and Levi Ward.
A celebration of Clarence’s life will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 I-45 South The Woodlands, Texas 77384 on Friday, September 13, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038 to be announced at a future date.
