Cosby "C.R." Rainey Oliver Jr., a faithful and inspirational soul, passed away on December 19, 2025, at the age of 90. Born in Abilene, Texas, on September 14, 1935, C.R. was a resident of Conroe, Texas. He is remembered for his thoughtful, compassionate, and generous nature.
C.R. graduated from Southwestern Seminary and earned his PhD from Sussex University. He dedicated his life to pastoral ministries, focusing on building churches and mission projects. As the president of the Oliver Evangelistic Association, C.R. led a Christian ministry devoted to teaching, fellowship, and the study of Christian worship. His passion for writing and for building churches in impoverished areas was a testament to his commitment to his faith and community.
On April 19, 1957, C.R. married Betty Lundgren Oliver, with whom he shared a loving family. He is survived by his children, Stephen Oliver and Bethany Stanley, and his grandchildren, Adrienne Waples, Sarah Stanley O'Connor, and Caroline Stanley. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Sariah Kinley Waples, Gianna Angie Waples, and Charlotte Elizabeth O'Connor.
A committal service will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, located at 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, TX 77384, on January 9, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
