

Don Edwin Sessions, Jr., passed peacefully in his home in The Woodlands, Texas, on September 18, 2025. Don was born in 1942 in El Reno, Oklahoma, to Don Sessions, Sr., and Margaret Porter Sessions, and grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. After graduating from Paschal High School in 1961, Don earned a BS and MS in psychology from North Texas University.
He and his wife, Ruth Ann French Sessions, married in 1967 in Pawnee Rock, Kansas. Don began his career in clinical psychology in Kansas and later worked for the Louisiana Department of Corrections for many years as both a psychologist and superintendent. He committed his professional lifetime to the public sector, believing strongly in serving those who did not readily have access to the care and support they needed. Don retired in 2002 and enjoyed his major role change to caretaker of his granddaughters for many years. He was passionate about developing his faith and spirituality, LSU football, and caring for animals and was a friend of Bill W. and community supporter for over 30 years.
Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend of 51 years, Ruth, and his younger brother, Vic Sessions (Cissy). He is survived by his daughters, Holly Sessions Taylor (Craig) and Megan Sessions Favre (Jason), his sister, Joyce Sessions Brannon, grandchildren, Matthew Sessions, Ross Brunskill, Mary Grace Favre Stevens (Isaiah), Margaret Favre, and Harper Taylor, and numerous nieces and nephews he cherished.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 7th, at 1:00 PM at Trinity Episcopal in The Woodlands.
