Dora Elizabeth Fielder, a woman of deep faith, quiet strength, and abundant love, went home to be with the Lord on February 1, 2026, at the age of 97, surrounded by the legacy she built through kindness, devotion, and grace.
Dora found joy in the simple and beautiful gifts of life. Growing up she loved her horses and cows and always had a story to share about them. She was no novice as she was the first female to win the Louisiana state championship showing cows.
Dora found peace and purpose in her garden or a weekend at the lake house and gave back unconditionally by volunteering at Second Baptist Church as the Girls Auxiliary (GA’s) Director, Choir and leader of Women's Missions Union (WMU) supporting missionaries in Africa.
She delighted most of all in time spent with her husband Tom, married more than 65 years, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride, and she poured her heart into each generation with patience, wisdom, and unconditional love.
Above all, Dora loved Jesus. Her faith was not just something she spoke about—it was something she lived every day. In her words, her actions, and her care for others, she reflected Christ’s love. She was a prayer warrior, a steady presence, and a source of encouragement to all who knew her.
Dora was preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas Ledbetter, Jr., parents Lonnie Lee Fielder, Sr. and Tracie Bennett Fielder, and brother Lonnie Lee Fielder, Jr.
Dora is survived by her children Suzanne Thomas (spouse Wade Thomas), Thomas Reid Ledbetter, III, Elizabeth Ann Hagan (spouse Paul D. Hagan, Sr.), Patricia Ann Johnson (spouse Skip Johnson), James Edward Ledbetter (spouse Karen Ledbetter), and John Douglas Ledbetter (spouse Sandy Ledbetter); grandchildren Audra Thomas Johnston (spouse Steven Johnston), John Mark Thomas (spouse Kelly Thomas), Elisa Ledbetter, Bethany Ledbetter Harden (spouse Tyler Harden), Christine Elizabeth Nall, Thomas "Trey" C. Nall III, Rachel Leigh Nall (spouse Jordan Rule), Justin Ledbetter (spouse Chelsea de la Porte), Rebecca Ledbetter, Tracie Ledbetter, Chelsea Ledbetter Croy (spouse Todd Croy), and Luke Ledbetter; great-grandchildren Wesley Johnston, Gabi Johnston, Drew Johnston, Ryder Thomas, Flynn Thomas, Madeline Harden, Alexandra Palasz, Isabelle Palasz, Hannah Rule, Elijah Rule, Abigail Croy, and Brooklyn Croy.
Dora’s life leaves a lasting imprint on the hearts of her family and friends. Though she will be deeply missed, those who loved her find comfort in knowing she is now at peace, rejoicing in the presence of her Savior.
