Greta was perhaps best known, in Houston, as the glamorous wife of international golf course architect Robert Von Hagge. Together they were known as the Golden Couple of Northgate Forest. Greta had her own time in the spotlight as a Glee Girl on the Jackie Gleason Variety Show in the early 60's.
Greta was with Gleason the entire seven year run of the show first from New York City and then Miami. The change of the show's venue to Miami was life-changing for Greta. It was in Miami that she met Robert and 6 weeks later they were married. As Robert built his career the couple relocated first to California then eventually to Houston where Greta immediately became involved with good causes such as The Centrum Arts League, The Shining Stars Guild, The Pearl Fincher Museum, and The Texas Master Chorale. Her involvement in these continued following Robert's passing in 2010.
Health issues caught up with Greta three years ago. She developed a brain bleed. She was taken to the Texas Medical Center for emergency brain surgery which she was lucky to survive. After months in the hospital and skilled nursing facilities she moved into an assisted living facility, but, after another major surgery she decided she would rather be at home where her friends could more easily visit her. At home she was attended 24/7 by three dedicated caregivers. She always remained positive about her recovery but that was not to be. She passed away with her family by her side at her home in Northgate Forest.
Greta was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Robert.
She is survived by her sister Bonnie Shepard of Thousand Oaks, California, brother Ronald Randall and sister-in-law Jane Randall of Houston, Texas.

A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, interment to follow at service. Greta will be placed next to her beloved husband Robert in the mausoleum at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery.
