Gretchen L. Pindell

She was born on May 5, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, to Earl and Ruth Leffler. The family later moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she graduated from Myers Park High School in 1959. Gretchen went on to earn a degree in elementary education from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina.

On August 18, 1963, she married her college sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Pindell.

Gretchen began her career as a second-grade teacher before choosing to stay home to raise their two children, Jeff and Cathy.

A lifelong member of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, she was devoted to her faith and service. Gretchen sang in the church choir, actively participated in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) and Women of the Word (WOW), and generously offered her time and talents to various church ministries. She was also actively involved in the Lutheran school her children attended.

In retirement, Gretchen and Bob enjoyed traveling, staying active in their church community, and spending time with family. Their greatest joy was found in loving and spoiling their grandchildren. Gretchen was a master quilter and was always blessing others with her gifts, talents, and generous nature. In later years, as Bob’s health declined, Gretchen lovingly and courageously cared for him until his passing.

She was preceded in death by Bob, her beloved husband of 56 years.

Gretchen is survived by her children, Jeff Pindell (Melissa) and Cathy Robinson (Jay); her grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary, Jacob, and Madeline Pindell, and Caleb Robinson (Julie), Abbey Anson (Matt), and Graham Robinson (Emily); and her great-grandchildren, Brooks and Miles Robinson.

She is also survived by her brother, Dennis Leffler (Kay), and her twin sister, Caren Albright (Jim), along with many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on July 23, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Living Word Lutheran Church, located at 9500 N. Panther Creek Drive, The Woodlands, Texas 77381. A reception will take place afterward from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the same venue.
