Helen was born in Valentine, Nebraska, on January 4, 1930. She graduated from Valentine High School and, later, received a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. On September 3, 1950, she married R. Duane Kennedy.
Helen had a career in educational counseling, working for Hastings Community College, and had a passion for family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Claar, and husband, Don; son, John Kennedy, and wife, Deb; grandchildren, Adrianna, Christian and wife, Leah, and Katie; and great-grandchildren, Emily, James, and Helynna.
A memorial service will take place on Friday, June 16, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, Texas, 77384. Immediately following the service, a reception will take place in Forest Park’s event room.
