Born on February 19, 1945, to Marjorie Hall and Charles Hunter, John lived a life grounded in loyalty, integrity, and quiet strength. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, and though he rarely spoke of it, his service shaped the steady, dependable man his family deeply admired.
John is survived by and shared over 57 years of marriage with his wife, Diane—a partnership built on love, trust, and shared purpose. He was a proud and supportive father to Lance (married to Liz) and Beau (married to Brittany), and nothing made him light up more than time spent with his grandchildren—Lizzy Vargas, Allyson Hunter, Ewan Hunter, and Eilidh Hunter—and great-granddaughter, Remington Vargas.
In his younger years, John enjoyed golf and found peace outdoors. In retirement, he took to fishing, often happiest with a line in the water and time to think. He was a man who didn’t need much to be content—just good company and the comfort of family.
John will be remembered for his calm presence, dry wit, and the steady way he showed up for those he loved. His values and quiet example will live on in the lives he touched.
A Memorial Service for John will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 12 pm at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384 to be followed by a Committal Service at 1 pm.
