Kevin Rusty Box

He was born on April 4, 1956 in Romulus, New York and later settled in Houston, Texas. He joined the National Elevator Local Union 31 on September 27, 1978 and retired on September 1, 2015, as an elevator mechanic. Rusty was a hard worker and was known as one of the best in his trade.

Rusty was a big-hearted man who loved his family and friends. He always enjoyed or created a good time. He very much enjoyed traveling, camping, boating and snow skiing.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Hagen Box, mother, Donna Berry Box, brother, Craig Box, sister, Kellie Jo McCowen, grandparents, 2 brother-in-laws and a nephew.

Rusty is survived by his partner in life of 14 years, Cheryl Thornton, stepchildren, Jaclyn Simmons and husband, Alan, Rachael Burden and husband, Cody, John Saunders, III and wife, Shelli; 7 grandchildren, Brett and Brylee Simmons, Kyler and Kasen Burden, and Austin, Blake and Taylor Saunders; his sisters, Bridget Sargent and Marla McCafferty, brother, Ryan Box, Brother-in-law, William McCowen and niece, Chelsa McCowen along with numerous nieces and nephews.
