Lola Faye Maxwell Fergurson was born in San Saba County on Feb. 18, 1926 to Mark and Arleva Maxwell. Her family later moved to Odessa where she attended school. Lola married George Adams in 1951. After he passed away in 1966, Lola moved to Houston. When she married Kenneth Ferguson in 1973 their two families became one.
Lola is survived by their children, Rindy Saunders, Susan Orr, Wayne and Janet Ferguson of Houston, George and Liana Adams, Connie and Wallace Lundgren of Austin, Janet and Jimmy Burch of Clifton, and Mike and Cindy Adams of Boonville, IN, nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Lola loved the Lord and was a founding member of numerous churches. She was a member of the Houston Chapter of Women’s Aglow, and served as president. Holidays were always a festive time for Lola, with her large family around, and making her special meals.
Traveling was a passion for Lola. She traveled extensively around the world and made several trips to Israel. In 1993, she and Ken bought a home in Colorado and spent many happy summers there.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents, husbands George Adams, Kenneth Ferguson, two grandsons, Brian Burch and Samuel Saunders, siblings Gorman, Carter, and Troy Maxwell, Evelyn Ghorley and Lila Barnett.
A memorial service to celebrate Lola’s life will be held Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Forest Park the Woodlands.
