Martha lived a full life until 89 years old but was then plagued by two hip breaks and later a clavicle break due to falls. The Dr’s. felt Martha would not recover after the second hip break, but that was 5 years ago, and Martha proved them wrong, walking again at 90. This speaks to Martha’s strong faith, constitution, tenacity, and overall maintaining good health throughout her life. Being raised on a farm made eating fresh food and staying healthy a top priority for Martha. She was an avid recycler long before it ever became popular.
Martha was continually active in her church until the falls took their toll at 89. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Conroe, and prior to that Trinity Presbyterian Church. She seldom missed a Wednesday choir practice or Sunday church service for over 70 years. Martha was also a 27-year member of the P.E.O.
Martha deeply loved all her friends and family. Her Christmas card list was not something most of us would want to tackle, but she continued with it until her late 80’s. She had 10 siblings; thus, the earlier family reunions were exceptionally large and full of joy and happiness. Martha was the last of the 11 Brown Family children to pass-away. In later years, Martha loved playing cards and dominos with her neighborhood “girlfriends” and was quick to prepare a homemade tasty treat for the occasions.
Martha is survived by her daughter Cindy Bailey, son-in-law Larry Bailey and Grandson Barret Bailey, his wife Velvet Nelson and Great Grandson Kai Bailey as well as her daughter Tanda Fox and husband Rick Sparks. Additionally, she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and Martha adored them all.
