Mary Campbell passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, at the age of 98. Born in Pear Valley, Texas, and raised in nearby Brady, Mary spent most of her adult life in Midland, Texas alongside John, her husband of 42 years. He preceded her in death in 2002.
A proud graduate of Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, Mary had a lifelong love of learning. She was always engaged in something new—whether pursuing her real estate license, staying active in her church’s Altar Society, or expanding her knowledge simply for the joy of it. Intelligent, witty, and quietly accomplished, she brought insight and sharp perspective to every conversation.
She is lovingly remembered by her four children, Pam Johnston, John Campbell, Cathy Campbell, and Liz Adams; her granddaughter Michelle Lofton and husband Todd; and her great-grandson Michael Lofton. She was reunited in peace with her great-grandson Samuel Lofton, who passed in 2013, and her son-in-law Ward Adams, who passed in 2015. In her final years in The Woodlands, Texas, Mary was surrounded by family and devoted caretakers who truly cherished her. She was one-of-a-kind, and her presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Pam Blacklock and Sharon Blacklock for their extraordinary care and constant presence during Mary’s final years. Their love and dedication were a true gift.
The family will hold a private graveside service in Brady, Texas, where Mary will be laid to rest.
