

Nolen was born in Nineveh, Texas on August 5, 1934, to Ivan Bailey Fox and Alberta Marie Smith. He graduated from Oakwood High School in 1952 and went on to pursue a Barber’s career. Nolen co-owned & operated One Shell Plaza Barber’s Shop in Houston, Texas for 42 years before retiring in 2011. He greatly enjoyed his career and made many friends through the years.
Nolen was preceded in death by a daughter, Adonna Kay Fox; his mother and stepfather, Alberta and Edwin (Buck) Pitts; Father Ivan Fox, grandparents, William and Lucinda Fox; his beloved wife of 28 years, Theda Diane Kopp Fox; his two brothers, James and Harold Fox; sister Lily P. McGill; and a granddaughter, Stacy Lynn Fox.
Nolen is survived by his twin brother Olen Ray Fox and family; sister Ola L. Croft and family; sister Shirley Bentley and family; and brother Edwin C. (Little Buck) Pitts and family. Nolen is also survived by three sons and their families: oldest son Russell D. Fox & wife Connie- daughters Jada Mullins and Amanda Fox; middle son Phillip R. Fox & wife Carroll-daughters Jordan Fox and Halli Falke; youngest son Dennis L. Fox & wife Jane- daughter Tara Irwin and son Jared Fox. Nolen is also survived by multiple great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as other family members. The family would like to give special recognition to Dad’s two close personal friends Ken Joslin and Doug Edwards who are among many of our father’s special friends.
