Richard "Rick" Lynn Koenig

Richard Lynn Koenig was born on November 19, 1956, and passed away at home in Dallas, Texas on October 7, 2024, at the age of 67. Rick was born in Sinton, Texas to Cecil and Anna Belle Koenig, the third of four boys. He graduated from Sinton High School in 1975 and went on to major in engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Rick graduated with honors from UT with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. In 1980, he began his career as a drilling engineer for Exxon Corporation in Kingsville, Texas. He worked for Exxon a total of 19 years in several different locations including the UK, Scotland, the Philippines, and Trinidad before leaving for other opportunities. Rick’s excellent engineering skills were well respected and allowed him to easily find positions at various other companies. He eventually formed his own consulting firm, before retiring in 2018. Rick had a never give up attitude, was smart, conscientious, and a very hard worker.

Rick was a loving son, brother, and uncle. Always a part of family gatherings, he enjoyed talking with his nieces and nephews and laughing, telling stories and jokes, making and eating homemade ice cream, and watching sports, especially the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys. Rick was friendly and very generous and reached out warmly to all those he met. When Rick was in high school, he put his faith and trust in Jesus as his Savior and Lord. He loved and honored God and sought to know and follow His will.

Rick is survived by his three brothers Ron (Debbie) Koenig, Randy (Patsy) Koenig, and Rob (Kim) Koenig; eleven nieces and nephews, their spouses, and three great-nephews and a great-niece. In his more recent years, he renewed a friendship with his former wife Namhee Cho, her two children, Jonathan and Stacey and their families. Rick is preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Anna Belle Koenig.

A visitation for Rick will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, TX 77384. A funeral service will occur immediately after from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A graveside service will follow from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery. A catered reception will be held at the Koenig home, further details will be provided at the service.
