

Sally was born on March 1st, 1939, in Owosso, Michigan to the late Henrietta and LaVern Birkmeier. The oldest of eight, she spent most of her young life in New Lothrop, Michigan and graduated from St Michael’s Catholic School. She met the love of her life, Thomas Kenneth May, and they married on August 29, 1959. They had six boys - Thomas Kenneth Jr., John Martin, Steven Lavern, Darin Joseph, Kevin Lee and Donald Wayne.
Sally moved to Texas with Tom and their children in 1981. She enjoyed a long career with Texas Health and Human Services, where her many colleagues also became close friends.
Upon her retirement, Sally was able to enjoy travel overseas, cruises and many special moments with her family, including thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mom, Nana, mother in-law, sister, aunt and friend. She was a strong woman with a great sense of humor. She loved her family, her grandkids and her friends.
Sally is survived by her seven siblings and their spouses, Joe and Kathy Birkmeier, Wayne and Jan Birkmeier, Ted and Sue Birkmeier, Verna and Maurice Yaklin, Gary and Rose Birkmeier, Gordon and Pat Birkmeier, Nick and Patty Birkmeier along with her five sons and their spouses Thomas Kenneth May Jr., Steven and Barbara May, Darin and Shae May, Kevin and Shelly May, Don and Ellen May. Sally is also survived by daughter in-law; Linda Lawrence May, thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Dementia Society of America.
A memorial service will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, in The Woodlands, Texas on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 2:00pm. A reception will follow the service at 3:00pm at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home.
