

Shirley Maybelle Ferrer Cole Flowers, 85, of The Woodlands, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior December 12, 2011. She was born December 13, 1925 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Frank William and Claire Fisk Ferrer. She is also preceded in death by her husband William J. Cole, her husband Richard W. Flowers, and her daughter Sandra Cole Lewis. Shirley is survived by her son Bill Cole and wife Kathy of The Woodlands; grandchildren Samantha McAvoy and husband Jeff, Courtney Cole, Morgan Cole; and also Richard Flowers, Judy Flowers Dyess and Tommy Flowers; along with other relatives and many friends.
Shirley was a devoted Christian. She was a member of The Woodlands United Methodist Church and The Daughters of the American Revolution. Shirley was raised in New Orleans and Lake Charles and then her family moved to Decatur Illinois when she was 14. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1942 and attended James Millikin University in Decatur, from 1942-1944. She lived in Houston from 1953 until 1977, and in San Antonio and New Braunfels from 1978 until she moved to The Woodlands in 2003. She most recently lived in The Woodlands at The Forum. She was an avid reader, gardener and a passionate animal lover. She enjoyed life, being with her family and keeping up with the family genealogy. Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Shirley’s life is set for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, December 15, 2011 at The Forum, 5055 W. Panther Creek Dr., The Woodlands, Texas 77381.
