My brother Terry was a special person and a wonderful man.  He had a dry sense of humor that I absolutely loved. His unexpected  witty comebacks always brought laughter.

I can still picture him as a little boy  jumping off the high dive of the Cedar Grove swimming pool, fishing in Wallace Lake and catching a ride back to town on the back of an old farmer’s wagon. He always loved fishing. I remember him getting a little red chemistry set for Christmas when he was about 12.  Who knew he would become a chemist!

He had compassion for others, loved life, his family and was a friend to many.  I remember when the Space Shuttle blew up that he joined a group who searched the countryside, looking for anything that would bring consolation to the families of the astronauts.  

He honored his parents, God, his country and made the world a better place.  Mabel, Mark, Rhonda, and Grandchildren, he adored all of you and I pray that God's love will comfort you and give you peace that only God can give.  It will be a lesser place without Terry and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The best part is that we will see him again.  He will be waiting for us.

Dan Coyle (Terry’s brother in law)

I was dating Jo Beth (Terry’s sister) at the time and attended the wedding of Terry and Mabel. It was a memorable occasion and Terry was fine with it although there was some issues. One of Margie’s (Jo Beth and Terry’s older sister) infants pulled her pearl necklace off her neck and broke it and all the beads fell on the floor. This was the old Southside Baptist building and it had hard wood floors that were sloped down to the front. Beads could be heard rolling all over the church and  Terry never seemed to notice. After they were hitched Mr and Mrs Terry Day got into Terry’s nice Ford coupe (later to be Toyota) and hurriedly and happily left.

Recently Terry and Mabel and Jo Beth and I took a drive to the Lake Ouachita campground where the Day family vacationed for several years in a row. As we drove through creeks and over narrow bridges Terry told how the family would travel from The Woodlands to Shreveport towing their boat and spend one night visiting family and friends and then finishing the journey the next day at the lake. When we got through the forest there was the lake. Huge lake with islands all in it with Ozark mountains behind it. Seeing that with Terry and hearing how much he liked those times with his family shared how much he valued those times.

I miss you Dad. I miss walking in the back door and seeing you in your chair. I miss texting you and sending you pictures of the boys. I miss you asking me "What's new?" everyday. I miss seeing you with my boys and listening to the funny stories you would tell them. Those boys love you to the moon and back. Your bond with them is so special. I miss our talks, your love and knowing how proud you were of me and the boys. I will continue to make you proud. And I know your love still surrounds us. I just miss you. Thank you for teaching me about Jesus. I am so comforted knowing that we will all be with Him one day. Thank you for being my dad. Thank you for being the best papa to my boys. It's an honor to be your daughter.

Terry Day or Papa as I knew him was a role model to me. He was one of the most supportive people in my life. He always told me how proud he was of me for everything I did. My favorite memories with Papa were listening to him share his funny stories from his life and the joy he would get when he would make me and my brothers laugh. I loved watching the Astros with him and getting to talk baseball. I'm going to miss him showing me pictures on his iPad from his fishing trips or some silly photo he had of me when I was little. I'm going to miss the way he would push Grandma's buttons just enough to annoy her and that mischievous grin he would give when she would snap back. Nothing will beat the joy he had every time me and my brothers walked through the back door. He loved us so much and he made it known. Papa put everyone before himself and he made this world a better place. I know he is up in Heaven fishing with Jesus now getting to take in big breathes of fresh air. I love you Papa. Can't wait to see you again.

Terry was the best friend ever. I came to know Terry 16 years ago. He was friends with our neighbor Freddie in South Fork Colorado and would spend several weeks each summer, with Freddie,  fishing with Freddie and all the neighbors. After Freddie sold his summer home in South Fork I invited Terry to stay at our home and I'm certainly glad he accepted. I told everyone he was a friend that I inherited. Terry was the guy you could trust with anything. He knew where the keys were hid and some years he would get there a few days ahead of me. He would have the house opened up and stocked with more food than we could possibly eat. There are so many good memories I could write a book about them. One story I will share was when we were grouse hunting one afternoon. We were in my old Bronco way up in the mountains on a very rough narrow road and the radiator drain plug blew out. After a couple hours of red neck engineering we were able to get it to hold water long enough to get it started and turned around. Lucky there was a creek nearby. We were able to kill the engine and coast back down to the highway 9 miles. I had to start the engine twice to cross a couple creeks on the way. We got home right at dark. Terry loved to fish. He could fish from sun up to sun down every day except Sunday. It was important to Terry that we attend church every Sunday and rest and tell fish stories Sunday afternoon. Terry always had the latest electronic gadgets each year and Freddie gave him the nickname "Hi-tech Redneck". It won't be the same without my fishing buddy there every year.

So sorry for the passing of my dear friend Terry. We had many Colorado hunting  trips & riding bicycles in TEXAS.  We talked frequently on the phone to check on each other. I’ll truly miss those days. Love to you & your family! Jim & Jackie Saxon

I will miss Uncle Terry so much. We had some great fishing and hunting 
adventures. It was fun watching people stop and ask him about his kayak.  Now there are people all over the lake fishing with Kayaks. 
I know he’s in better place.
