

Vernon was born in Metairie, Louisiana on December 13, 1934 to parents Adolph and Babette Laiche.
Vernon graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor's degree. He went on to enjoy a long and successful career as a Geologist for Pennzoil which lasted 33 years.
In May of 1960, Vernon married his beloved Peggy, and their 65-year journey is a testament to the enduring power of love and the life they built together. Vernon was a loving parent to Betsy and Linda, a cherished grandfather to John and Brian, and in his later years, found immense joy in his role as great grandfather.
Whether he was tending to his garden, exploring new destinations, or cooking delicious meals for his family, Vernon had a deep appreciation for the world around him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Babette Laiche and brothers Adolph, Jr. and Leon.
He is survived by his wife Peggy, daughters Betsy Sherley (and husband John) and Linda Schloemer (and husband David), grandsons John (and wife Stacy) and Brian, 2 great grandchildren, sister Babette Pellettiere, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, Texas 77384, on May 30, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am to be followed by a Celebration of Life from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
