
peacefully on January 20, 2011. She was born on September 25, 1915 in
Morley, MO, to Charles A. and Ella M. Tomlinson Stallings. Eloise grew up on
Fairview, the family’s cotton farm, graduated from Morley High School, and in
1937 received her BS in education from Southeast Missouri State University.
She taught business education in Missouri at Fredericktown High School and
later at Jennings Senior High School in the St. Louis suburbs. Following her
teaching career, she and her husband Stanley moved to Harlingen, TX, in the
Rio Grand Valley, where she lived in retirement some 30 years. In 2003 she
moved to Oklahoma City, and in October, 2010, to Mequon, WI. Eloise loved
to travel, and between 1996 and 2002 she visited Hawaii, Panama, the UK,
Portugal, Spain, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Holland, Germany,
Russia, China, Korea, and Japan. She is preceeded in death by Stanley, her
husband of 60 years, her siblings Tharon, Alden, Kenneth and Camille Stallings,
and Eloise’s daughter, Carolyn Dixon Cornelius Willis (John). She is survived by her
son, Shelby Keith Dixon (Janet) of Mequon; grandchildren, Wells Cornelius of
New York City, Brett James Cornelius (Sandy) of Nashville, Julie Cornelius
Haller (Rick) of Oklahoma City, Charles Dixon of Nashville, Jeffrey Dixon
(Stacy) of Evanston, IL, and Theresa Dixon Carter (Thomas) of Mequon; great
grandchildren Preston, Sam, Clare and David Cornelius, Rye and Jazmin Haller,
and William Jeffrey Dixon. Interment to be in Fredericktown, MO, next to her
late husband, Stanley. A memorial gathering to include extended family is
planned for a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to the
Mequon-Thiensville School District Orchestra Parents, Inc, 5000 W Mequon
Road, Mequon, WI 53092.
