Albert Arthur Kassakatis, 98, of High Point, passed away on May 15, 2026. A proud United States Navy veteran who served during World War II, Albert was known for his devotion to family, his strength, and his enduring sense of humor.
He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Herman and Nettie Kassakatis.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 12 years, Rose Kassakatis; his second wife of 62 years, Patricia Kassakatis; his parents; his sister, Yvonne Barrett; his daughters, Elaine Bell and Lynn Dalsheimer; his daughter-in-law, Terri Kassakatis; and his granddaughter, Jenny Geilfuss.
He is survived by his sons, Steve Kassakatis and Tom Kassakatis (Michelle), along with ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
To his family, he was “Granddad,” and that name holds everything he meant to them. He was strong-willed and sure of himself, and that never really changed, but it is also what made him such a constant in all of their lives.
He loved being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family gatherings were important to him, and he made it a priority to be present in their lives. He was deeply loved by those around him and had a sense of humor that brought laughter to countless family gatherings. He never met a stranger for long and always had a story ready to share.
He was a devoted Baltimore Orioles fan and followed them faithfully over the years. Whether cheering on the Orioles, telling stories from years ago, or spending time with family, he created memories that will live on for generations.
His family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace and in the presence of his Lord. More than anything, his family will remember his presence, his determination to be part of their lives, and the love he showed in his own steady way. They are thankful for the many years they had with him.
He will be deeply missed and remembered by all who knew him.
