Billy Edward King

Billy Edward King, 89, went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 13, 2020 at his residence with his family by his side.

Billy was born in Stevenson, AL, April 16, 1931, a son of the late James Harrell King and Stella Belle Hare King. He moved to Thomasville in 1950 and was employed by Oakdale Cotton Mill as the water treatment plant operator for 26 years. Billy owned and operated King's Plumbing for over 40 years. He was a charter member of Colonial Baptist Church where he was the church treasurer, a deacon, taught Sunday School and volunteered on numerous mission trips. He was an avid golfer as long as his health permitted. Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Ellen Middleton King, son in law, Rick Embler and two brothers, Jesse and Jimmy King.

Surviving are his daughter, Carolyn Embler; a son, Billy "Eddie" King and his wife Nyoka "Nokie"; two grandchildren, Eric King and his wife Amber and Heather Thomas and her husband Caleb; three great-granddaughters, Scarlett, Hallie and Stella King; three sisters, Sarah Rorex, Louise Hicks and Martha Beane; a brother, Ernest King; numerous nieces and nephews and honorary brother and friend, Barney Ferguson.

A Celebration of Billy's life will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Colonial Baptist Church by Pastor Dr. Clint Scott. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Monday from 10 until the service. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County.
