Douglas retired from the US Army, a chapter of life that reflected steady devotion and a willingness to serve with purpose. In every season, he carried himself with an openhanded generosity—meeting others with sincere kindness and a readiness to help, the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back when someone was in need.
A devout member of Spirit of Life Ministries, Douglas loved the Lord and was always teaching and ministering. His faith was not kept private; it was shared in the way he encouraged others, spoke hope, and lived with a giving spirit.
Above all, Douglas was an amazing father and grandfather—the rock who kept the family together. His steady presence anchored those he loved, and his legacy will be carried forward in the family he held so close.
In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Patsy Rich; brothers, Presley Spivey and Tommy McDonald; sister, Judy Robbins; and beloved dog, Hershey Kisses. He is survived by his sons, Robert Stanley and Gary Hughes; daughter, Renee "Sissy" Stanley; grandchildren, Brian Stanley, Arron Williams, Brooklyn Williams, Noah Stanley, Angel Ellis, Garrett Hughes, and Benjamin Hughes; great grandchildren, Michael, Jaxler, Kingzlee, Verity, and Skylynn; brothers, Jimmy Spivey and Wade Stanley; sister, Susie Rich (Lewis); and many nieces and nephews. Douglas is also survived by his faithful service dog, Sox.
