Emily Catherine Moore, 66, of Thomasville passed away April 3, 2016 at Hospice Home at High Point. Catherine was the daughter of John Wesley Moore and Lillian Palmer Moore. She was raised in the Forge Hill area of Bath County, Kentucky.
Catherine graduated from Berea College with an undergraduate degree in music, and earned a Master’s in Library Science from the University of Kentucky at Lexington. During her career she worked at Paul Sawyier Public Library in Frankfort, Kentucky; the Rowan County Library System, and the High Point Public Library, where she served for many years as head of the Media Arts Division. After retirement, she worked part-time for several years at Brayton International in High Point.
In addition to her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her brother, Edward Colfax Moore. Catherine is survived by her husband, Michael Hicks, sister Lois Plymale of Owingsville, Kentucky, brother-in-law Joseph Hicks of Diamond, Ohio, sisters-in-law Melba Moore of Lake Placid, Florida and Helen Rodgers (Richard) of Corliss, West Virginia and their children and families.
Catherine had a great love for music and the arts. She was a pianist and harpist, and enjoyed working on projects involving original design and creativity.

A memorial service followed by visitation for Catherine will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 at Thomasville Funeral Home, 18 Randolph Street in Thomasville.
