

A resident of this area all of her life, Mrs. Wilson was born on September 15, 1931 Columbus County to the late William and Sarah Watts Coleman. She was a faithful member of Full Gospel Freewill Holiness Church in Thomasville, where she was affectionately known as “Granny Alice”. She was dedicated to the church her entire life, where she always cooked and made cakes. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Javie Wilson, sister, Vastie Donahue, and brother, Jack Coleman.
Surviving is her daughter, Sandra Kay Wilson Hutchins and her husband, Pastor Junior Hutchins of Lexington; sons, William G. Wilson and his wife Faye of Lexington and Robert Wilson of Lexington; adopted daughter and caregiver, Alice Cartrette and her husband Sam of Lexington; five grandchildren, Mitchell Hutchins and his wife Crystal, Kevin Hutchins and his wife Kristi, Richard Wilson and his wife Pennie, William Wilson and his wife Stacie, and Sarah Wilson; four great grandchildren, Hannah Hutchins, Cody Hutchins, Camryn Hutchins, and Merrialy’s Wilson. Also surviving are two sisters, Jackie Pate of Lexington and Betty Blackburn of Tabor City; brother, Robert Coleman of Tabor City; and numerous special nieces and nephews, including Faye who always made sure her room was full of fresh flowers and Louise who always brought Mrs. Wilson’s sister to visit.
A celebration of Mrs. Wilson’s life will be held at 7 pm Wednesday at Full Gospel Freewill Holiness Church with Pastor Junior Hutchins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A graveside service will be held at 10 am Thursday at Forest Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
