Passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at the age of 91 at York Central Hospital. Predeceased by his loving wife of over 50 years Patricia. Will by sadly missed by Barbara (nee Cruickshank). Beloved father of Dennis (Deb), Chuck (Laura), Mark (Judy) and Dawn (Blair). Grandpa to Kim, Jonathan, Daniel, Kristal, Kelly, Jade, Scott and Kyle. Great-grandpa to Nolan, Dusty, Mikayla, Lauren, Julia, Myles and Melinda. Survived by his brother and friend Charles. Al served in the Royal Navy for 5 years, was Platoon Chief of the North York Fire Department with 33 years of service, a Member of Toronto Firefighter War Veterans Association and founding member of North York Retired Firefighters Association. Friends may call on Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel. Cremation to follow.
