Our sincere condolences to Willy, Grant, Duane and the whole Martens family. His sister Willy was my maid of honor in my wedding, so we go back a long way. I see Albert's thoughtfulness and kindness in his boys. Grant was especially thoughtful to my Mom after my Dad passed away and I thank him for that very much. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all and may you experience God's love and comfort at this time and going forward.

“Hey Lesley, we’ll just come over for a coffee this evening. We’re running short on time. We’ll take our chance on getting the plague.”(Sept.18, 2019)...and here we are a year later.  A real plague has taken hold of the world and I am unable to get a flight. It seems like in the blink of an eye everything has changed.  On that day one year ago I got my last hug from you, it was a good one. I guess as we grow older we hold on to those moments a little tighter, they help us through the rough patches. 
Our families shared many rough patches together over the years but I’m grateful that the happy ones outweighed the sad. You knew how to get on with it. You were loyal, loveable and stubborn and in being you you hold a special place in my heart. You were always there for us in the early years and proved to be a steadfast with the passing of my parents and sister. 

When I broke the news to our youngest he had trouble remembering you, then I showed him the pictures and he said, “ Oh that guy, that’s too bad, he was awesome!” I guess that says it all. You will always be that “Awesome Uncle”. I’m gonna miss you.

I want to express our deepest sympathy to Willy, Grant, Duane and Lisa, Brandon, Taylor, Katryna and Willy’s children and all of the grandchildren. 
Decorate your lives with the beautiful memories you hold dear of your husband, father, grandfather, step dad. Wish I could fly over to hug you all.

Dear Willy, Grant, Duane and families.  Martha and I give you our cincere condolences with the death of Albert.  Martha spoke with him just two weeks ago and he sounded so good.  We pray that God will grant you strength in this difficult time and we hope to see you when circumstances allow.

For many, many years in several locations, I have been Albert's tenant.  He always treated me fairly and well. When something needed to be done, it was taken care of quickly and for that I was and am always very grateful. However, when I think of Albert, I think of him and his  friends here in Wingham. I had the pleasure of watching them together a number of times over the years. It was for me, always a joyful thing to see.  He will be warmly welcomed by those who have gone before him and greatly missed by those of us who are left behind.  In all of your sadness, I hope that you, his family, will also be comforted by great stories, shared love and laughter and the companionship  of those around you. 

Just want to give my condolences with the death of your dear husband Albert.  When I think of Albert I think of Florida, where you sit in church, and in the carport of your Florida home.  Willy I will be thinking of you and wish you strength.  Ina

Way back in the 60,s I used to visit the Martens home on 100 Moore Park Ave most Sundays after going to church on Taunton rd.Some Sundays we would travel to other churches to meet other young people.It was Albert who introduced me to my wife and her family in Jarvis .Thanks,Albert .From B.C.Rest in Peace.Our sincere condolences to Willy and all of your family.

Albert and I enjoyed a business relationship and friendship which continued for many years after I retired from my firm, as his public CA. 
Over the years we had many meetings and business lunches together, not only in T.O. but also at his Florida retreat.
Albert was a successful and resourceful business man, along with his two sons, and I must add that I felt deeply honoured when I got Grant's call inviting me to Albert's private funeral.
In my books, Albert was a real Mensch!
Linda and I extend sincere condolences to Willy, Grant, Duane and all family members at this sad and difficult time.

There are so many words to describe Albert. He became like family to my family when he started coming to Wingham. Such a gentleman, he was so kind to my parents. I just hope he knew how much he meant to us. He has raised 2 amazing sons and was so proud of them. RIP Albert. You were one of a kind. My condolences to Willy, Grant, Duayne and families.

Albert was a true gentleman who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
He worked hard all his life to achieve what he had set his mind to.
His life has seen love and sadness but he has withstood anything that life threw at him. He lost his love in 1987 after having his 2 sons. He withstood again and  found his love again, Willy and family.
It was special to see the happiness that the last years have produced.
Our hearts are sad but Albert would want everyone to remember the things he has taught us. Live life as tho it is your last day . Love and it will be returned tenfold.
 RIP Albert.  You will be missed!


A great uncle.  A kind person.  I have fond memories from my childhood of our families getting together.  "Well done you good and faithful servant".
