In celebration of her life, but with great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of
Ann Ogilvie Rice (nee Archibald), in Toronto October 24th, 2007, in her 87th year.
Ann's charm touched many people. All who knew her will miss her warmth and style. She was strong minded but ever gracious and elegant; witty yet sincere and never afraid of a little adventure. Always her focus, she is pre-deceased by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Donald I. Rice, as well as her brother and sister Don and Margaret. She is survived by her son and daughter, Christopher (Deborah Edwards), Cheryl Ann (Rod Millar) and family, brother Orin, many nephews and nieces and their families.
Born in Bedford, Nova Scotia, Ann attended the Halifax Ladies College, and Acadia University, where she met her husband. They began their life together in Halifax, and later moved their family to Toronto in 1964 which has been her home ever since.
During the next two decades Ann travelled widely with her husband, both nationally and internationally, making many life long friends. She remained proud of her maritime heritage, loved the ocean, and returned regularly to Nova Scotia with Don and family for treasured summers at "Gowan Brae" in Middle Musquodoboit.
In keeping with her wishes in lieu of a service there will be a private gathering of family and friends in Nova Scotia at a later date.
Donations in her name may be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) or the Canadian Cancer Society.
