Anthony Wekerle

Anthony peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at 89 years of age. Beloved husband in their 55th year of marriage to his devoted wife Hermine. Loving father to Carolyn, Michael, Christine and Caron. Proud grandfather to Celeste, Carlie, Christian, Michael, Colin, Carson, Danielle, Jonathan, Christel, Raquel, Adam, Ashton and Emma. He is survived by his elder sister Barbara Sauer, and his niece Heide and nephew Eric. Anthony was a devoted and committed member of his church community and president of St. Michaelswerk Benevolent Society with a special devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary. He was a graduate of the University of Toronto and an entrepreneur in the import/export business. He was an avid gardener of flowers and fond of playing soccer with his children and grandchildren. He held in highest esteem faith in God, family, human rights, the aesthetics in nature, and the comforts afforded by the Catholic faith and its traditions. The Wekerle Family appreciates the kind thoughts and prayers from family and friends near and far. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church (39 Green Lane). Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
